In June 2011, the Corporations and Markets Advisory Committee of the Australian Government (CAMAC) issued a Discussion Paper about proposed reforms to the legislative regime regulating Managed Investment Schemes (MIS) under financial stress. CAMAC’s proposals have been prompted by the legal difficulties experienced as a result of the failure in recent years of a number of high profile MIS and their responsible entities (REs).
